Relaxing and Cozy

I found this podcast from IG with Trent’s drawings. I have two sons and the oldest who is 5 has an ASD diagnoses since June 2022. He needs medium to high support and he’s about a level 2 with aggression, meltdowns, hitting. He’s very intelligent and proficient in reading and learning science which gives me some hope. My whole world has been autism since the diagnoses and I look for common ground with families like yours. I love listening to this podcast when I’m cleaning and hanging out with the kids. It’s so soothing and relaxing to my ears. Trent’s dad sounds like DR Phil but I got used to it! Haha, heart.

I love this podcast. Thank you to Trent’s family for sharing their lives. I have two children with ASD, and I have learned so much about things to start to consider and plan for their futures by listening to this podcast. Also, my son absolutely loves watching Trent draw.

Dear Trent and Family- I love this podcast!! Stumbled across y’all on Facebook and started following. Found Used Up Pens about 8 weeks ago (at the Season 3 finale today) and have been blown away by your family’s journey and Trent’s progress. Y’all’s openness, honesty, love, grace , and humor are a blessing. Your mission to care for Trent and each other while spreading ASD awareness is making a difference. I learn something, laugh, and get some “feels” with every episode. Thanks for letting us in ❤️❤️❤️ My question (probably been asked and answered before, just haven’t come across it yet): How did you know Trent needed glasses and how does the eye doctor figure out what prescription to use???

Cheering Trent on your a wonderful family

I have a child with cerebral palsy she had a short life. she taught me life is short and precious. Destiny was a fighter her little body fight for one year to be with me. It was a difficult time for her and me. But I am happy god give me a year am grateful for the time with that being said. I admire your family and Even though its not the same diagnosis it fills my heart to see these videos and kids with any diagnosis not feeling limited and I love how you allow the world to see we are all talented even with obstacles. I love. How you talked to and show the world Trent’s amazing art work.

Enjoy following Trent.

I have been following Trent for a long time. I am 38 with cerebral palsy and have a 2 year old who has a hard time with sounds and sometimes throws fits, has a texture issue with some things. So I’m currently watching her. Her doctor said no but like said I’m hoping she will grow out of it. But watching you helps me communicate with her with some things. So thank you. I plan on ordering a “ different but not less” shirt soon.

Warms my heart

The stories they tell are honest, insightful and heartwarming. Trent’s triumphs and challenges are the core of the stories and it’s so fascinating to hear the journey of supporting him throughout his life. While I have a personal connection to Autism, I think anyone could easily fall in love with this sweet family.

Your podcast has been such a positive light in my commute to and from work. My son is 16 and was diagnosed with ASD when he was 3. One of my new favorites!!!

I’m so glad I came across a drawings by Trent video on Facebook, it led me here and I’ve been hooked since the first episode I listened to. I have a 4 (soon to be 5) year old son diagnosed with autism. At this point he’s non verbal besides a little babbling here and there. We’re going through a really tough season in our journey with autism. It can feel so very lonely and hard and like it’ll never get easier. But hearing you all talk about the tough times you had with Trent growing up, and how far he’s come really brings me joy and hope as to what the future can hold for my son. Thank you so much for doing what y’all do. 💗

Hits close to home.

I just listened to episode six. As a mom of a 19-year-old nonverbal level three autistic young man this really hit close to home. She is the youngest of three and it really gave me a different perspective of how his older siblings handled growing up with him. I think this should be suggested listening for families who recentlyHave an AST level three diagnosis. Big fans of trance work on TikTok and look forward to listening to all of your podcast.

Very touching!

Every time I listen to your podcast , I’m in awe and also so encouraged. Yet also always walk away with my thinking challenged for the better in how I view life and parenting. You’re all so amazing! Love Trent’s giftings. Corey and Andrea, your strength as parents , wow!!! Tristan, I love your sister heart. Trevor and TJ, you guys rock as brothers too! The family bond and love amongst you all is so awesome! Love your family and all God has and is doing in and through you. I’ve always kinda had an interest in the world of autism. But it hadn’t been until the last couple of years, when our son , who’s 3, has become buddies with a young man at church, who’s 27 and has autism. That I’ve really started to develop a heart for those with autism and their families! I want to know more. I want to know how I can beat love and support those families. Bravo!!! Love it love it!

I found you guys because of the summer shirt project! I absolutely love this podcast that I binged heard it lol! On my way to and from work. Thank you for all the advise and for sharing your experience with us. My brother was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when he was in second grade and we had to advocate for him because he wasn’t getting the support he needed! I remember we had to get a social worker to help us out. It was even harder for us because my parents speak Spanish and they had no idea what Autism was and the help they need to advocate for him. His 1st grade teacher told my mom they need to stop spoiling him! Because he was throwing “tantrums” Needless to say that I do not like her what’s so ever because she was never invested in my brothers education her and the principal at the time wanted to kick my brother out of school. At the time I was taking classes in a community college and had some what of an understanding of what my parents could do. My brother is now 22 graduated high school currently working in a restaurant as a dishwasher he gets very nervous at times but he likes it. He jokingly says he has 5 moms lol because we will advocate for him when we have too. I don’t believe he will ever be able to live on his own.

I love Trent!

Love listening to your podcast and following Trent and family on social media. I am a middle and high school special education teacher that is fully invested in doing my best to see that all of my students reach their full potential. Autism fascinates me and I learn something new everyday from my students. One of my students is a nearly identical clone of Trent, minus the drawing ability.

Love this!

I have a 2 year old that is currently undiagnosed but we are sure he’s autistic. We are just waiting for some formalities to get the diagnosis. I found Trent on Tik tok. And he is so amazing. This podcast has been such a help and so great. So many similarities with my son but so different as well. Thanks from a therapist

I often am the first contact for families with a child not talking. I am a pediatric speech language pathologist of 27 years. I am now completing a masters in psychology so I can diagnoses ASD. As you know, the wait list is far too long for an evaluation. I like to listen and here from you guys what NOT to do. I never want to say the wrong thing and upset parents but it is my duty to let them know when I see something. I am open to any advice.

We’re not alone.

I have been so blessed by this podcast! My autistic daughter is 5 and we have a 6 year old son as well. We are heavily involved in church and will soon be entering the public school journey. All this to say, I am talking back to the podcast often with things in common and always, always, always not feeling alone anymore. We love our family and we love yours! Thank you Trent for sharing your gifts with the world. Thank you family for loving and supporting and advocating. Keep up the great work! Be real, be authentic and we are always still learning.

Excellent and Insightful

My family is not touched by autism, though I have many friends whose families are. I’ve always wanted to understand their children and daily lives better — this podcast does an incredible job. It’s authentic and very real…the good, the bad, and everything in between.

Sending you all some shine

I’ve been a special Ed teacher for 8 years and have worked with many Trents. Im sure you experience the same silence I do about these experiences. No one wants to hear it, so you just don’t talk about it. Bravo to you for starting a podcast for the voiceless, both our level 3 aut babies and friends but also for their caretakers who have no ears except each other and our therapists. Shout out to all the severe disabilities teachers keeping therapists in business. As for you, Trents family, keep it going because I wait wait wait anxiously for each episode so I can hear my kindred spirits tell me stories that let me know they get it.

Amazing podcast!!

I am a third year high school special Ed teacher and this podcast moves me in so many ways! I love hearing about how your family lovingly deals with the good and the hard times with Trent. I have a student that reminds me of Trent (a 18 year old who is very violent at times and can’t express his needs). My goal is to give the parents at least 7 hours of the day without them having to get “that call”. I’ve been punched all over and had to sit as all my things I bought for my class got ripped down and destroyed as I waited out his rage. The destruction is nothing compared to the gratefulness the parents have for just finding someone that allows their child in their class. I hope others can hear this podcast and if not find ways to help parents of children with ASD then they can at least get awareness of how hard it can really be.

Love and recommend the heck out of this!!!

As a momma of a beautiful and incredibly difficult child with ASD this podcast resonates in my heart and soul so profoundly. I cannot recommend it enough! I have genuinely looked forward to the new episodes with great anticipation. I love hearing another families perspective on life in general, but also the unique love that is formed in a family learning to live and thrive with someone who has ASD. I also feel like I’m beginning to learn more of who Trent is as and individual and how far he’s come! Your hard work has paid off and I’m so proud of how each of you handle yourselves personally and professionally. Like Mitch said, the quality of production across all the platforms are phenomenal. I love the heck out of you guys!!! PS Grandma Ellen had the same EXACT reaction to Logan’s diagnosis. Couldn't stop cackling. This podcast has all the feels ❤️❤️❤️❤️
